Workshops

These days life’s general motto has become, “ Yeh Dil Mange More”, with this as the case a Doctor wants to be surgeon and any graduate wants to be a MBA, so what does a Designer become…………..
With specialisation as the key Workshops have become that little extra that makes all the difference. Its not only reinforces the knowledge learnt but also impresses on the application, which is an important skill for a successful Fashion Designer. Atharva College of Fashion & Arts firmly believes the same and so far has conducted unique workshops where other art forms like Warli Painting and Calligraphy had been merged with fashion.
Kicking off the term with Fabric painting workshop by Mrs. Kavita Kopikar a famous name in Textiles. She has been with Thackercy Mills for over a decade and has been associated with Sophia Polytechnic. Students experimented with colour, strokes and various ideas of application and concepts.
Second in line was the Warli painting workshop conducted by Ms. Varsha Vagal who has intimately worked Indian Arts and this love has seen her working with Tata Press for over a decade. The end results were quaint, cute belts with a marriage procession or a T-shirt with a man on horse flashing the logo “Warli Ride”. Thus the students twisted this conventional craft into contemporary concepts.
Next was the workshop “Vastakshar” as the name implies, Alphabets On Fabric that took off with Mr. Achyut Palav; the calligraphy maestro introducing the students with the tools and the craft…
And the most coveted and awaited of all the events was ACFA’s collaboration as Hospitality Partners with Designer Hunt’ 06 where our students got down to the real life of a Designer, the fittings…the models…the tantrums and finally making everything look right on the ‘D’ day.
From the 1st of November the students from all over came to the AET Campus and the whole ACFA team was buzzing with exhilaration…everything starting rolling into a schedule grooming sessions by dignitaries like Ms. Harilien Sabhrawal, Hugo D’Souza and Mr. Dinesh Singhal later the trails followed and the complete frenzy boiled down to the day on the Grand Finale.
The event culminated with three lucky winners with a chance to visit IED, Milan on an all-expense paid trip. And our students are still counting and discussing the Do And The Don’ts when designing a collection, overall ACFA has lived upto its promise of making its students thorough Professionals.
