2006 Seminar with the illustrious
"Mumbai Dabbawalas" |

The marketing students of the
atharva Institute of Management Studies organized
a unique seminar with the illustrious “Mumbai
Dabbawalas” on the 28th August 2006 at the
Atharva Educational Trust Campus.
It
was an enlightening experience to learn that haw
dedication to work & genuine willingness to
perform one’s task with utmost commitment
has taken brought this seemingly humble profession
to great heights. The truly are an example of
“how ordinary people do extraordinary things.
An
informative presentation was made wherein the
unique facts pertaining to the Dabbawalas &
their working were highlighted. The Total area
of coverage of their place of work is 60kms which
is handled by 5000 workers with an average literacy
rate of 8th grade schooling. The numbers of Tiffin’s
that they transport everyday with great punctuality
stand at an astounding 2,00,000 in number, i.e.
is cumulatively 4,00,000 transactions each day.
They have achieved the famed “ SIX SIGMA”
rating for their accuracy in work i.e. Error Rate:
1in 16 million transactions. All of this is achieved
with “Zero technology back up”. The
sales turnover achieved by them stands at an amazing
Rs. 50 Cr. They have a “No Strike”
record which in itself speaks of the phenomenal
people management in practice as each of the employee
is a shareholder in their work with the following
very prestigious awards & international fame
- World
record in best time management.

Registered with Ripley’s “Believe
it or not”.
All
in all it was a great learning experience which
taught each member of the audience that

On
Friday, 17th of march 2006, atharva educational
trust played host
to mr. rakesh jhunjhunwala an ace trader, in venture
capitalist also know as the warren buffet of India
who spoke on “capital market wealth creation
& outlook “ of the atharva campus.
Mr.
Jhunjhunwala has been around Dalal Street for
the post two decades, till 1990, he made most
of his millions via speculations. But it has in
the post 4- 5 years that his midas touch has been
on ample display, because almost everything ha
has touched has to gold. Prompting promoters to
line up to offer him shares, and his strategy
being “ buy right, hold tight and exit in
frenzies.”
During his speech he said, “India is on
the verge of being a bursting economic power.”
For Mr. Jhunjunwala market is like a woman who
is mischievous, commanding obtain success is independent
thinking, hunger, opportunity, risk and by focusing
your minds into all thoughts. He later touched
the evolution of capital markets by saying”
Temples of capital allocation is to make proper
use of capital to make it productive Assets, he
concluded by giving an advice “invest on
broad parameters and larger pictures, make it
an cat of wisdom and not intelligence.
"Though it is
important what you buy,
its more important at what price you buy.”

Atharva
School of Business organized an Annual seminar on
the topic “Sustaining Growth in an Organization”.
The seminar was held at Ramada Plaza Palm Grove,
Juhu on Saturday 12th November 2005.
The seminar differentiates itself from other seminars
by projecting an inter-disciplinary approach for
it discussed topics under various disciplines like
